Golden Hour Family + Maternity Session in Clinton, TN — Featuring the Sweetest Toddler Big Brother

There’s something incredibly special about maternity sessions that include the whole family — the love, the laughter, the anticipation, and the sweet in-between moments that come when you're waiting for a new baby to arrive. This golden hour family and maternity session in Clinton, Tennessee was everything I love about photographing growing families: full of connection, play, and pure joy.


Set against the warm glow of a late summer sunset, this session featured a glowing mama, a proud dad, and an adorable toddler who's getting ready to take on the role of big brother. The open fields of Clinton gave us the perfect natural backdrop — soft grasses, golden light, and plenty of space for a little one to run, explore, and just be himself.


One of the most rewarding parts of my job as a photographer is working with toddlers during family sessions. I know that getting a toddler to smile (and sit still!) can sometimes feel like a wild card — but that’s where I shine. My approach is playful, relaxed, and child-led, which not only helps toddlers feel comfortable but also leads to the most genuine smiles and joyful interactions. Instead of forced poses, I focus on real moments — like dad twirling big brother in the air, or mama pulling him in for a cuddle as the sun dips behind the hills.


Maternity sessions like this one are such a beautiful way to celebrate this season of change — not just the bump, but the transition into becoming a family of four (or more). Including your toddler in your maternity photos helps tell your family's full story, and creates memories you'll love looking back on as they grow.
