This beautiful family and maternity session by the lake in Oak Ridge, Tennessee was the perfect reminder that cloudy evenings can create some of the dreamiest, most emotional photos. With soft sunset light reflecting across the water and cozy overcast skies surrounding us, this session felt calm, intimate, and full of genuine connection.

We met by the lake in Oak Ridge for a relaxed evening session celebrating this sweet family as they prepare to welcome their newest little one. Mom looked absolutely beautiful with her growing bump while dad and big sister soaked up every moment together before becoming a family of four.

One of my favorite things about cloudy sunset sessions is the soft, even lighting they create. The overcast sky gave this entire session a timeless and emotional feel while allowing the family to focus on simply being together. Big sister was full of smiles and excitement, loving every chance she got to hug mom’s belly and snuggle close with her parents.

Throughout the session, we focused on natural connection and movement rather than stiff posing. The peaceful lakeside scenery in Oak Ridge created the perfect backdrop for authentic family moments — from playful walks by the water to quiet cuddles as the sun slowly disappeared behind the clouds.
